China notes the 2560 anniversary of the birth of the famous philosopher, Confucius, said on Monday, Xinhua news agency.
Confucianism has made a considerable contribution to the development of Chinese psychology and family foundations. Ancient Chinese philosopher formulated five main characteristics of a noble man: humanity, justice, respect for parents and governors, prudence and sincerity.
At a family celebration in his temple in the city of Qufu gathered more than 10 thousand people, among them – are direct descendants of the wizard, the followers of his works and foreign diplomats.
The culmination of celebrations, is expected to be the promulgation of a new family tree of the philosopher. According to the latest in the world today there are about 2 million descendants of Confucius. It is possible that this time the list will increase by half as much: experts believe that in the world live more than 3 million people connected by ties of kinship with the great Chinese thinker, whose family tree includes 88 generations.
It is believed that the commemorative celebration in honor of the philosopher began to spend in the Middle Kingdom from 478 BC – a year after his death. After the proclamation of the New China commemorative activities were resumed in 1984, and in the 2007th, they received nationwide status.
